FRUGAL4HEALTH Opening, Interviews with Frugal Projects from Around the World
Good news for those enthusiasts of social healthcare innovation who believe things can be done differently. Towards doing more with less. FRUGAL4HEALTH.ORG is born, an initiative to showcase frugal projects from around the world. Ideal for curious and critical people in the social-health sector who are also looking for an impact. Alongside Edu Soler, he shares his reasons for launching this communication project featuring global frugal examples, and he presents some examples of impactful frugal medical technologies he has interviewed.

6 FRUGAL AFRICAN STARTUPS? (Chapter 1)
We are in Kigali (Rwanda) at the African Health Tech Summit, the most important healthcare innovation conference in Africa. FRUGAL INVESTORS? (Chapter 2)
We are in Nairobi to interview Rogert Karanja, the founder of the investment firm Villgro Africa. A firm that started in India and has scaled in Africa and the Philippines. Robert fully understands the concept of frugality and advocates for it in the healthcare sector. He explains how investment works in Africa, and also how they have managed to be frugal as an investment fund.

Chapter 3

FRUGAL ULTRASOUND? (Chapter 3)
We are in Uganda to learn about the MSCAN UGANDA project (https://www.mscanug.com/), a company that has developed a low-cost, portable ultrasound machine designed for rural and somewhat isolated areas. A project that is undoubtedly FRUGAL. Its main use is for managing pregnancy and avoiding complications that can be addressed with a preventive cesarean section. We interviewed Prosper Ahimbisibwe, a co-founder and physician of the project, and we were able to visit one of the centers where it is implemented – none other than the Palabek refugee camp, in northern Uganda bordering South Sudan.

Chapter 4

FRUGAL WHEELCHAIRS? (Chapter 4)
We are in Uganda to learn about the CADIRES X TORORO project (wheelchairs for Tororo) (https://www.instagram.com/cadiresxtor...), an initiative developed jointly by a school in Uganda and a group of engineers from Barcelona. It is about low-cost wheelchairs produced by secondary school students. A project that is undoubtedly FRUGAL. Thanks to this project, children with disabilities in the Tororo area, Uganda, have been able to access a more normal life. We interviewed Maria, a teacher at the school and coordinator of the project in Tororo. It was an unforgettable experience to see firsthand how they build the wheelchair.

We interviewed Spencer Bugingo, one of the founding lawyers of the agency, who surprisingly knows the concept of frugality and explains and defends it from his institution. A unique opportunity to talk about frugality in the context of Rwanda's FDA.
